Kanbula: Danxia Ridges Above the Yellow River

A 2023 report describes Kanbula’s red Danxia peaks, forest and varied geological features beside the Lijiaxia reservoir on the Yellow River. A 2026 provincial tourism event identifies the park’s location in Jianzha County.

Red ridges beside a broad reservoir

Above the Yellow River in Jianzha, Kanbula’s landscape gathers several forms into one view. A 2023 report describes steep Danxia peaks, dense forest and varied geological remains above the Lijiaxia reservoir on the Yellow River’s main channel. The red stone gives the ridge line its color; the water below opens a broad horizontal counterpoint.

The same report places this terrain in the meeting zone between the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Loess Plateau. Red peaks, forested slopes, the reservoir and exposed rock formations give the setting several distinct forms, brought together by elevation and the river.

A park within Jianzha County

A 2026 notice from Qinghai’s culture and tourism department places the Kanbula World Geopark in Jianzha County and records a provincial tourism-day event held there. The notice places the park in a specific county and gives a dated point of reference for its public profile.

The red ridge and broad reservoir frame the landscape at different scales. Together they make the relation between highland rock and the Yellow River visible.
