The needle returning home

The 2026 Guinan County profile places embroidery inheritor Lama Yezhong in De Mang Village, Shagou Township. In the story, the needle belongs to a family history: her father ran a tailoring shop, while women in the household had long worked with thread and decorative motifs. The workshop’s later move back to De Mang made the village itself part of the craft’s setting.

From county seat to village workshop

The profile dates the family company to 2009, when Lama and her father established it in Gonghe County. In 2015, they moved the workshop to De Mang. The change placed production closer to home for local embroiderers. The same account describes small embroidered sachets and ornaments developed in 2017, bringing familiar decorative stitches onto objects designed for everyday use. A village workshop, a family trade and a line of small goods now sit within one story of how Guinan embroidery finds places to be made and carried.
