A valley between cooler slopes

Guide County’s natural-resources profile describes a basin ringed by mountains, with the Yellow River valley in its center. As elevation rises away from the river, temperatures fall and humidity increases. The county calls the river corridor its warm-dry center; its 2024 figures list 365.6 millimetres of precipitation and a mean annual temperature of 9.7°C. The same profile records long sunshine hours and notes that May, June and July receive the most sun, supporting multiple crop cycles and greenhouse vegetables.

Fields and fruit in a changing pattern

Guide’s 2025 economic summary records 21.91万亩 of planted crops, including wheat, highland barley, potatoes, maize and beans. It lists 4.86万亩 of vegetables and 4.17万亩 of oil crops. The county profile places orchards in warmer areas below 2,600 metres and lists pears, apples, apricots, peaches, cherries and grapes. Read alongside the crop figures, the valley’s agricultural mix includes grain, vegetables and fruit.
