Salt Merchant Culture Exhibition Hall
A merchant residence gives the salt economy a domestic scale.
The exhibition occupies Wang Lumen’s late-Qing house in Nanhexia. Its succession of interior spaces provides a useful counterpoint to the broad geography of the canal: commerce becomes a story about households, patronage, authority, and changing fortunes.
