Taihu and Lihu

Lake scenery shaped by garden patrons and the work of restoring a shoreline.

Lihu belongs to the Taihu water system, but its intimate garden edges invite a different kind of looking from the open lake. Liyuan offers a particularly revealing starting point: follow a pavilion frame, a waterside corridor or a family-history display to connect scenery with its makers.
