Heartland in two counties

Recent provincial releases place Zhouyuan in Fufeng and Qishan under Baoji, calling it a pre-Zhou capital and the Western Zhou heartland. Excavations there expose large rammed-earth buildings and repeat the region's reputation for bronzes, jades and pottery. Gazetteer summaries centre the site in present-day Fufeng and Qishan rather than in Baoji's built-up districts.

One hundred three pieces in December

In December 1976 workers at Zhuangbai in Fufeng uncovered a hoard of 103 bronzes, described in provincial gazetteer writing as among the largest and most academically valuable bronze groups recovered in modern times. Provincial heritage statistics list a Zhouyuan archaeological park as approved alongside other projects, not among national archaeological parks already open like Qianling or the Qin mausoleum.
