Where the river narrows
The Hukou scenic area shares banks: Jixian in Shanxi east, Yichuan in Yan'an west, on a jointly managed Yellow River reach.
The Hukou waterfall scenic area straddles provinces. Ministry data places the east bank in Jixian, Linfen, Shanxi, and the west bank in Yichuan, Yan'an, Shaanxi, as a jointly managed tourism zone where the river narrows.
