The River Measured Between Villages
One ecological study follows six locations along a Qionghai river reach, from seasonal water samples to native fish returned after measurement.
A cross-county river whose Yazhai reach was surveyed across seasons, villages and multiple kinds of aquatic life.
The 2023 Journal of Tropical Biology study describes the Wanquan River as a 157-kilometre main channel, flowing from west to east through Qiongzhong, Wanning and Qionghai before reaching the sea at Boao. In Qionghai, the researchers studied an 18.3-kilometre Yazhai reach through six sampling cross-sections, naming villages from Penglai in Zhongyuan Town to Liukeshang and Xiayuan in Boao Town. The study offers a close view of one measured lower-river segment across its sampled seasons.
