A palace set on one line
The Forbidden City in central Beijing puts the outer court in front and the inner court behind, along a single axis.
Dongcheng.
Dongcheng is the district on the eastern side of the central city. The municipal page gives it 41.84 square kilometres. Inside that ground the Palace Museum and the Temple of Heaven are two different compounds: one a residence of emperors, the other an altar left open to the sky.
