The city tourism board describes Sanya Bay as a coastline more than twenty kilometres long, marked by the Coconut Dream Corridor. The municipal guide makes that scale walkable by giving a start point and direction: Haiyue Square, then west along the shore. This turns the bay from a wide scenic label into an urban route with a beginning, a path and a destination. The city’s English profile also describes Sanya through the meeting of mountains, sea and rivers. At the bay, that geography becomes something experienced at pedestrian pace.

A Walk West Before Sunset
Sanya Bay becomes legible through a municipal walking route, while reef-restoration work continues offshore.

Shade, lawn and a place to pause
The official route describes tall coconut trees and lawns along the corridor, then names Mi Cafe as a nearby rest stop with local food and a sea view. This is a useful sequence because it includes the small actions that make a waterfront public: begin walking, move beneath shade, stop when tired and look back toward the water. The guide recommends an afternoon walk before sunset. The guide presents the corridor as a route for movement and pause, with shade and a place to rest before sunset.
The changing light as an urban event
The walk ends at the water as sunlight falls across the bay and the sky changes colour at the horizon. Along the corridor, sunset is part of the coast’s ordinary public rhythm.
Care extends beyond the promenade
A 2026 agriculture-bureau notice describes maintenance work for artificial reef facilities and warning buoys in the nearshore restoration project. Offshore infrastructure and the public promenade are two parts of the same bay, each cared for in a different way.
