Yalong Bay

A long sandy bay where resort activities meet the responsibilities of protecting nearby coral reefs.

Sanya’s tourism bureau describes Yalong Bay through clear water, a long beach, shallow shore, forest park and water sports. Yet a bay is more than its recreation menu. Sanya’s coral-reef rules define what tourist activity may do in reef waters, prohibiting damage and setting limits on commercial diving where coral cover is low. Read Yalong Bay across that tension: the ease of entering the water and the less visible rules that protect the habitat beneath it.
