A Causeway Toward the Sea Guanyin
At Nanshan, a walk toward the monumental statue sits within a larger landscape of temples, halls and gardens.
A coastal Buddhist landscape links Nanshan Temple, the Hall of Thirty-Three Guanyin and the sea-facing Guanyin statue.
Nanshan’s temple grounds and coastal setting are presented together by Sanya’s tourism bureau: Nanshan Temple, the Hall of Thirty-Three Guanyin, gardens and the 108-metre Sea Guanyin. A visitor approaches the statue by walking along a causeway, while the broader grounds include paths, gardens and water features. Religious practice, the temple complex and the sea-facing statue give the site several layers beyond its monumental image. The bureau’s cultural exhibition area also introduces Guanyin traditions and Buddhist history in Hainan, giving visitors a way to place the architecture within a longer regional story.
