Artificially cut chambers in the hills east of Huangshan City, with their makers and purpose still unresolved in the cited report.

The Huashan Mystery Grottoes lie east of Huangshan City’s urban centre, on the south bank of the Xin’an River. A 2005 report describes chambers cut by people rather than natural caves and records the questions that researchers still could not settle: who made them, when, why, and where the removed stone went.
