Heishimao and Gaofugou

Engraved panels on dark rock line this slope, and the protected points carry addresses inside Shizuishan. On 22 December 2025 the Ningxia government published the sixth batch of regional protected sites and listed Heishimao (黑石峁) rock art, dated from the Neolithic through the Ming and classed as cave and stone carving. The place is 黑石峁疙瘩, about 660 metres southwest in Xiaozhaogou, northeast of Xingmin Village, Changxing Subdistrict, Dawukou District. The same list adds Gaofugou rock art, 高伏沟岩画, also Neolithic through Ming, at 1.5 kilometres west of Team 4, Nuanquan Village, Chonggang Town, Pingluo County. Locations are given; panel counts and a visitor path are not.

In 2017 Shizuishan's cultural-relics office commissioned a 3D scan of the rock art at Daxifenggou and Heishimao, part of keeping the images. The scans sit with Shizuishan's relics office.

Daxifenggou and the Baijigou cliff

In 2005 the third batch of regional protected sites placed Daxifenggou rock art in Daxifenggou, Pingluo County, Shizuishan. The images run from the Neolithic to the Sui and Tang. More than 100 stand on both walls of the gorge: cattle, horses, sheep, deer, dogs, and human heads, made by pecking and grinding.

That same list places Baijigou ochre rock art in Rujigou, Pingluo County, dated from the Han to the Tang. The cliff is about 11 metres high and 16 metres wide, with more than 40 images of horses, donkeys, sheep, dogs, herding, and hunting, made by carving. The listed name is carved ochre-coloured rock art. Dawukou has a subdistrict that is also called Baijigou, so the name alone is not the address. The 2005 protected unit is the cliff in Rujigou, Pingluo. Panel counts for Heishimao and Gaofugou are not on these notices, and they are not supplied from anywhere else.

Helankou belongs to Helan County

Helankou is the celebrated gorge, administered in Helan County, Yinchuan—not on this slope. That county places the Helan Mountain rock-art scenic area at Helankou, on the east edge of the Helan Mountain National Nature Reserve, 56 kilometres from Yinchuan, at the eastern foot of the reserve. It is a national 4A site and a national key cultural-relics site, with nearly 6,000 images; the State Council listed Helankou as a national key cultural-relics unit in 1996, not as a UNESCO World Heritage site. More than 6,000 concentrated images are ascribed to Helankou inside Yinchuan. The regional A-level list files 贺兰山岩画 as a Yinchuan 4A site, rated on 25 October 2008.

The gorge, the world rock-art museum, and the Han Meilin museum belong with that Helan County destination. Heishimao, Gaofugou, Daxifenggou, and the Baijigou cliff in Rujigou have no such museum buildings and no established public scenic route. A wider Yinchuan figure speaks of more than 40,000 images along 250 kilometres of the Helan range—that span is the mountains, not these four points.
